And then there were two.....

Posted by Brenda Hedden on Tuesday, November 25, 2014,
Sorry it has been so long since I wrote.  Here is the latest:

Pumpkin (now Cori) went to live in Colorado with her new family.  The were very kind and took back two other puppies to Colorado homes:  Blue and Fuschia.  All are doing well in their new homes and adjusting to their new lives.

Chocolate is also living in Colorado, Daisy moved to Arizona, Teal is now in California, Licorice is in Maryland, and Sky and Sunshine are making their homes in Washington state.  Violet, Snowflake, Rosebud an...

What a Wonderful Life with Puppies

Posted by Brenda Hedden on Tuesday, November 4, 2014,
The pups are now very social and love playing with each other.  They have discovered that tearing up the piddle pads and running in the opposite direction is great fun, so our life has changed dramatically.  The pads are now taped down and the water bottle that squirts to discourage piddle pad attacks stands guard.  I hate to spoil their great fun, but I also love to keep a clean pen.

When I sit in the pen, they all clamor for the front and top position.  Little Rosebud figured out last night ...

Growing Like Weeds

Posted by Brenda Hedden on Saturday, November 1, 2014,
It is so much more fun sitting and playing with the pups, than at the computer writing about them.  They are all very social and bound from one end of the pen to the other.  We still have the litters separated, but right next to each other and I don't think my home will ever smell the same again.  Hard as I try, I just cannot keep up with 15 little love bugs.  Today, we may try all puppies together with close observation.  Asia's are a week older and substantially larger than Java's, as a wee...

A Fun Weekend

Posted by Brenda Hedden on Sunday, October 19, 2014,
As I sit here and write this, Asia's litter is playing and Java's is sleeping.  A big difference one week makes.  Sparkles get the puppy of the hour award.  She has been at my feet as much as she can for the last few feedings.  Snowflake, Sky, Pumpkin and Chartreuse run a close second.  They are all so loving, great little feeders and now both litters are playing with their littermates.  Last night, Sparkles and Pumpkin had a hard time falling asleep.  They played with each other, with me and...

Three and Four Weeks Old

Posted by Brenda Hedden on Saturday, October 18, 2014,
All of the pups are doing well and growing.  Asia's litter is now awake for a good hour after every feeding.  They interact by licking each others' faces and sucking each other's ears.  They don't paw at each other just yet, and are just beginning to trot in their whelping box.  We most likely will move them to a run off of our kitchen this weekend.  It is hard to believe that half of their time with us is over.  They all have their canines now and some have their molars cutting in.  You can ...

Growing and Thriving

Posted by Brenda Hedden on Sunday, October 12, 2014,
The pups are now 3 1/2 and 2 1/2 weeks old.  The are growing and learning so much every day.  The older pups are now beginning to interact.  After a feeding, they will chew on each others' ears, lick each others' faces and begin to play.  Licorice actually crawled out of the whelping box by himself and met me at the door of the den, when I heard him whining.  As I was writing this, I heard little claws trying to get to me and looked down, Violet had crawled on top of her mother and was trying...

What a great week in paradise

Posted by Brenda Hedden on Sunday, September 28, 2014,
We have been blessed with 15 adorable puppies.  I finally spent the last four hours downloading, resizing, renaming, filing, uploading and creating a page on the website of Asia's nine pups. All of the pups are growing well, sleep and eat well and Asia's are trying to get on all fours.  Today, I noticed a reflection in the corner of some of their eyes, so over the next few days, her pups will be opening their eyes.  Java is also a great mom, but a new mom.  She is learning the are to slow mot...

A Week of Newborns

Posted by Brenda Hedden on Thursday, September 25, 2014,
Today is an eventful day.  Asia's nine are one week old and have nearly doubled in size.  They are doing well and Asia is a great mother.  Java's pups were born today.  She became a mother for the first time with six adorable brown/white wavies.  They are all proving to be great nursers and Java is a little awkward with the new experience, but her instincts have kicked in to clean them and stimulate them to go potty.  We will monitor for a week 24/7, and then begin to give her a few minutes a...

5 Days Old and Growing Like Weeds

Posted by Brenda Hedden on Monday, September 22, 2014,
The pups are five days old today.  They came in to this world with no issues in a quick manner.  We don't waste time once the birth process begins, as puppies are notorious for not making it when they are in the back of the uterus.  We walk the mom, stimulate her and she has a pup every 20-40 minutes, so the entire process usually takes 4-5 hours tops.

We did not bottle feed goat milk until the 3rd day and watched round the clock to ensure all puppies nursed well and received the crucial colos...

We're Here!

Posted by Brenda Hedden on Saturday, September 20, 2014,
Nine beautiful puppies arrived Wednesday.  Eight are female and one is a male.  You can tell she only tied once and was nearing the end of her season.  We had not planned to breed this mother, but such is life.  Our male is black with white markings and our females vary.  We have five that are brown with white markings, one is white with brown markings, one is white with black markings and one is black with white markings.

All are doing well.  They were born in 5.5 hours and all came out ready...
