.....and then there were two

Posted by Brenda Hedden on Saturday, March 26, 2016,
Nearly all of our puppies are now in their forever homes. It's so sad to see them go but I'm excited for the next chapter of their lives.  There is so much more that you can do for them now, than what I was able to do for entire litters of puppies. They were well loved here, and as many of you told me, very well fed. I believe they all came with great socialization skills, an enduring playfulness, and an intelligence that you will find surprising.  They should be very easy to housebreak if y...

Five Have Found Their Forever Homes

Posted by Brenda Hedden on Wednesday, March 16, 2016,
Puppies are leaving at a rate of one per day.  Jack O'Lantern and Sky left Friday, Purple left Sunday, Monday we said goodbye to Daffodil, today Pumpkin flew to his forever home, tomorrow Red is leaving, Thursday Blue is leaving and one a day after until Monday, when three are leaving.  One would never think that 17 pups in a pen seems empty, but I can feel the loss.  It is so nice to know they will have the one on one attention and training that they deserve, which I cannot provide.

We still ...

A Lazy Saturday

Posted by Brenda Hedden on Sunday, March 13, 2016,
Today was our last quiet day for two weeks.  We decided the pups needed more space and kennel experience, so we enlarged their area and gave them three open kennels they can lay in.  They like the extra space.  A family sent me a picture of a play structure for their pup and we loved it, so off to Home Depot we went this morning.  We spent an hour making them an adventure box, mostly out of recycled materials and they love it.  Wish we would have seen this year ago.  We saw as many as 9 at on...

They Are Leaving

Posted by Brenda Hedden on Saturday, March 12, 2016,
The puppies are beginning to go to their forever homes.  It is sad to see them go, but I realize they really need the one on one training now and 8 weeks is the easiest transition week for a puppy.  It only becomes more difficult after this week, as they start to become more dominant or submissive with litter mates.

Today, Jack O'Lantern and Sky went to their new owners.  It is going to go fast in the next two weeks, but they are more than ready.  They have been weaned for two weeks now, Mom...

First Vet Visit

Posted by Brenda Hedden on Friday, March 11, 2016,
We took 12 to the veterinarian yesterday.  We decided to wait on the late pickups, as the flight certificates are only good for 10 days after a vet visit, and then it is back to the vet for another checkup before flight, sooo.... we took the first 12 that are leaving in the next 9 days.  They all had great check ups, all but one was quiet for the doctor.  Most were real champs, a couple of them were nervous and all went well.

On the way back, one threw up on another one, but no clues were rema...

Thank You

Posted by Brenda Hedden on Tuesday, March 8, 2016,
Thank you for all of the pick up information.  I am slowly getting around to responding, as you successfully inundated me with texts and emails.  I appreciate the information and it will take me a day or so to respond to it all.

Tonight was a fun night with the pups.  Here are a few stories:  Snowflake is my little Houdini.  She escapes from the pen a dozen or more times a day.  She loves playing with the older dogs and today, when I arrived home, she was sleeping on a pair of Uggs that I had ...

Please Send Pick Up Information

Posted by Brenda Hedden on Monday, March 7, 2016,
Even if you have already, please resend pick up information.  I discarded all of my text messages in an effort to make room in my phone to send you videos.  I have information on about 30% of the pickups at this time.  Thank you.

Pictures Are Up

Posted by Brenda Hedden on Sunday, March 6, 2016,
New pictures are up.  This was an 8  hour process today.  I miss playing with them when I am downloading, resizing, renaming and uploading pictures all day.  Yesterday was a house cleaning day and showing pups to a family, so it has been all about puppies again this weekend.  They are fun and I will miss them when they are gone.

They love to play and don't realize that if they are awake and another is asleep, that the puppy who is sleeping, might not want to play.  Everything is free game for ...

Seven weeks

Posted by Brenda Hedden on Sunday, March 6, 2016,
Time has flown by.  I can hardly believe my little bundles of joy are 7 weeks old.  They now play more than they sleep, but they sleep all night. When I awaken at 6 am they are generally playing with each other.  No barks, no whines, they play quietly until we come downstairs whether it is 6am or 8 am.   I generally feed them and most pups in the past bark and whine so loud that it awakens everyone.  23 puppies and they all just watch me while I prepare their meal with just a few whines.  Blu...

Another Day in Paradise

Posted by Brenda Hedden on Sunday, February 28, 2016,
Another wonderful day with our puppies.   It seems that everything else in my life comes to a halt when I have puppies at home.  Laundry doesn't get done, dishes are a struggle, meals really get prepared anymore other than a puppy meals and my husband and I sort of live in a tired daze.  They are growing and playing so much now.

All of them have similar personalities.  They all come to me and chew on me when I sit down.   Some of the videos I've been sending you, as you make your choices, migh...

New Pictures Coming

Posted by Brenda Hedden on Saturday, February 27, 2016,
I am finally categorizing and will upload last week's bathing pictures. Sorry I am a week behind but I still took the weekly pictures  so you won't miss your little loved ones growth, you just didn't see it in a timely fashion. I will also take more today of their five week old pictures and try to get them uploaded tomorrow.

We had a lot of families visit last week from Sunday through Wednesday, and it was also our Olympic week at school, as our school site is held on an Olympic venue. Was ...

Puppy Therapy

Posted by Brenda Hedden on Friday, February 26, 2016,
Today was a long day at school and I came home and this is the first day the pups whined for me.  It was so sweet.  I changed their bedding and crawled in and immediately, 13 of them were all over me:  Sunny, Daffodil, Red, Blue, Midnight-Navy,  Curacao, Green, Irish, Cotton Candy, Lime, Purple, Licorice. and  Crimson.  It was such a wonderful welcome and I played with them for over a half hour while the others slept.  I love those moments when they can crawl all over me.  They are up and dow...

Update on Pups and Picks

Posted by Brenda Hedden on Thursday, February 25, 2016,
Life is busy here and the pups are adjusting so well.  They still sleep a lot but are growing more social daily.  So far the pups that are reserved are:  Pumpkin, Jack O Lantern, Red, Lavender, Purple or Lime, Yellow, Sky, Curacao,  Champagne will not be available if you are just looking, as numerous families only want her, so when she is chosen, I will be giving back numerous deposit refunds........  sorry, brown is adorable too and is our personal favorite.

Pups are now eating a mush blend, ...

Picks

Posted by Brenda Hedden on Tuesday, February 23, 2016,
Pumpkin and Jack O Lantern have been chosen.  One pick is deciding between Lime and Purple and we are now on pick four and awaiting their decision.  Please get an idea of which pup you desire, so that when your turn arrives, you have an inclination of what you would like and we can continue.   People need to book flights and they cannot unless they know if they are getting the pup they really would like.   If you would let me know, I would appreciate it.  I have many that would still like to ...

And the Picks Begin

Posted by Brenda Hedden on Sunday, February 21, 2016,
Thank you all for your patience through this process.   Today, the first, second and third picks will be made for certain.  We are excited to finally let you know what you have been waiting for weeks to determine.

The puppies are now feeding on a diet of goat milk, chicken, fresh veggies and organic brown rice (milk gives them loose stools and the rice has the opposite affect.)  We will wean them in a couple of weeks.  The food is blended and then mixed with the milk.

Today they are being bathe...

Puppy Life

Posted by Brenda Hedden on Thursday, February 18, 2016,
The puppies are doing very well.  All are growing.  Sparkle is the smallest and Licorice is the largest of all.  They were drinking next to each other tonight and I couldn't believe the difference.

They are all very social and I love to lean over into their whelping pens and have them come up and chew on my hair and gnaw on my fingers and give me kisses. They all either have bumps on their gums or they have cut their first tooth now.  Moms still nurse every 4-5 hours around the clock. Asia ju...

My First Story

Posted by Brenda Hedden on Sunday, February 14, 2016,
The pups are now interacting with each other and life is active and fun here at our home.  Just as they were finishing a feeding, one started to howl. It was Jamaica's Navy. Then his entire litter followed suit in howling and whining and then the next litter began doing it, so they started communicating with each other. It was hilarious for about five minutes and then they calmed down and eventually fell asleep.  It was adorable and I wish I had my camera.

They are getting their first bath to...

Our Crusty Critters

Posted by Brenda Hedden on Saturday, February 13, 2016,
Milk baths, woohoo!  Our pups love lapping and bathing at the same time.  I think they feel that if they lean in to the milk dish or bathe, they will somehow get more food.  They all do pretty well at lapping now, but they seem to want to push their paws in to it, as they do when they nurse.  First paws, then bellies and necks and the next thing I know, they are laying in their food.  Maybe this is the stage they need to progress through so they learn to play with each other, as when the food...

Wow, What a World

Posted by Brenda Hedden on Saturday, February 6, 2016,
All of their eyes are opened now and they are so beautiful.  They are beginning to focus and will stare at us, as everything is so new to them.  They are on all fours now with their little "sailor legs" and making their way around the whelping box and to mom.  Some are already learning to go to one end of the whelping box to relieve themselves.  It is amazing how smart they are and the potential for learning that they possess.

They still eat and sleep only, but in a few days, will begin to int...

Life Is All About Puppies

Posted by Brenda Hedden on Friday, January 29, 2016,
Our lives are all about puppies right now.  I awaken at 5 AM to feed them with moms and then get ready for work about 6:30 AM when my husband rises.  He stays with them off and on until about noon, when my daughter rises and watches them until 3 PM.  I am home by 5 PM and watch them until bedtime, about 10 PM, when my husband or daughter will take over.  My daughter is a night owl and she stays with them until about 3 AM and I am back up at 5 AM.  And so it goes for the their first three week...

Nearly a Week Old

Posted by Brenda Hedden on Sunday, January 24, 2016,
The puppies are growing so fast and I am taking additional pictures.  They pictures are very cumbersome to post now, and hopefully will improve when the host repairs their issues.  Until then, I will slowing plug away at posting pictures.

The first set was right after birth.  I wanted you to see your little one as they entered the world, so if you see fluids, it is the birth process, not an injury.  They all coo for mom when they smell her now and they stay close to keep warm.  The pups won't ...

Puppy Update

Posted by Brenda Hedden on Saturday, January 23, 2016,
Moms and puppies are doing very well.  My husband is with them all day, I am all evening, my daughter covers until 3 am when I get up and tend to them and then leave for work at 7 a.m.  My husband then takes over for much of the day again.  This is our life for their first week to 10 days.  Then moms are ready for short breaks and life becomes a little bit more normal as they will again sleep with us and we will get up once in the night.

They eat and sleep and that is about it.  It is amazing ...

And We're Here Round Two

Posted by Brenda Hedden on Friday, January 22, 2016,
A day after Asia gave birth, Jamaica gave birth to 13 beautiful puppies.  We are all still recovering from the lack of sleep, but they are all well worth the weary hours.  Moms are doing very well and pups are already growing.  We have a lot of pictures, but Yola's javascript is running continuously and not allowing us to upload pictures.

They just sleep and eat, and are very mobile.  It always amazes me that prior to birth, they are cramped in a small space and then come out so mobile that th...

We are on our way

Posted by Brenda Hedden on Monday, January 18, 2016,
The first puppy has arrived. A beautiful brown boy with white paws, a white-collar, white forehead streak, and a white tip on his tail. He was born at 10:00 PM on the 17th.  He is nursing well and mom is very attentive. All is quiet awaiting his siblings....

Siblings took another 3 hours, but they all came out healthy and beautifully marked.  We have five males and five females, five are black with white markings, two are half white and half black and three are brown with white markings.  Pic...
