My Bakers Dozen

March 7, 2015
Sorry I have not blogged.  Life is busy with my sister visiting and my husband out of town.  Initially, there were no stories to tell, but now I am full of them.  Jamaica's litter is here, there and everywhere.  They walk, see, hear and are beginning to communicate.  I had one bark at me and another let out the beginning of a howl.  They all still let out coos or short whines to communicate regularly and moan when they nurse. They all have personalities and each are so much fun.  Huck is my baby.  When he sees me, he walks toward me, Sunny is very social and a gentle giant.  Sparkle is the size of Sunny and the largest female.  She is adept on her feet and is now trying to play and interact with the others. Pumpkin is like Huck and seeks me out for food.  Candy just dives right in under all of the pups and finds a teat wherever she digs.  She also cuddles in her mothers front paws and lays against her chest. She is smaller than everyone else.  Licorice and Kiwi are fun to watch their tails wag as they play.  Sky is catching up to his bigger siblings and  he and Hershey are the same size and played together tonight.  Mango and Apple could be twins.  They are so unbelievably cute.  Bubbles is adorable and a great little feeder.  Curacoa is an observer and just stares at me sometimes taking it all in.  Life is great in our house and full of love.

Will write about Lulu's later tonight.

Blessed and Busy Life

February 22, 2015
Our lives are all about puppies right now.  Our LuLu had her litter Monday night and we have 9 precious beauties, 7 males and 2 females. She had a black male, a brown and white male, a brown and white female and six white pups with either black or brown spots.

Feedings now take about an hour and a half every 3-4 hours.  Pups nurse and we supplement the stragglers or top them all off with fresh goat milk.  Jamaica's now can potty without stimulation and three have their eyes opening:  Sunny, Sp...

New Names

February 16, 2015
My daughter and I had fun nicknaming our pups tonight.  We have numbered them, named them after colors and flowers and some foods.  This time, we came up with creative food/food names.  I will lovingly refer to them by their collared nick names from here on out.  Licorice and Pineapple (whom my daughter affectionately calls Polar Bear) are the two largest puppies, with Kiwi close behind.  Our smallest pups are Cotton Candy and Pumpkin, followed by Bubble gum and Mango.  Right in the middle ar...

Nearly six days old

February 15, 2015
Today was an eventful day.  We moved the pups in to the office between my daughters room and our bedroom, to make way for another litter due to arrive in the next 24 hours.  We cannot sleep on the floor of the office, but Jamaica is such a great mom that I don't feel we need to spend the night with her and the pups, sleeping on the couch.  The couch is now ready to sleep on for our next new mom.

Each of the pups got their collars today.  It is SO much easier to categorize pictures when I can e...

Jamaica Gives Birth

February 14, 2015
Jamaica gave birth Monday night and Tuesday morning.  She brought 13 puppies in to this world and they are beautiful and all doing well.  The moms are exhausted and the dads (human and canine) are oblivious to all of the moms work.  Jamaica is patient and loving and always wanting to be with her pups.  Just today, she began to be a bit comfortable taking a bathroom or food break.  Mu daughter and I on the other hand, are barely hanging on.  We get about 4-5 hours of sleep and are in the den w...
